Cinema India: The Art of Bollywood Cinema India.
10 December 2005 - 26 Feburary 2006 at Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens. The Art of Bollywood celebrates the vibrant visual culture of Indian film and explores the stylistic and historical development of Indian cinema art. The exhibition features more than 70 posters capturing the excitement and glamour of Bollywood from the early stages of the industry to present day films.

DLI Art Gallery Exhibition: Society Of Wood Engravers
Friday 16th December 2005 10:00am - 4:00pm Admission Charges: Adults £3.00, Concessions (student, unemployed, senior citizen) £2.00, Child £1.25, Family Ticket £7.00 A welcome return to the gallery for this group which was founded in 1920 by a group of artists, including Eric Gill and John Nash, and has gone from strength to strength in recent years. This annual exhibition includes around 120 of the best wood engravings and other relief prints, selected from open submission to illustrate the freshest ideas from today while recognising their debt to the past and traditional skills.

German Christmas Markets
Friday 16th December 2005 German Christmas Markets At Harperley POW Camp, Crook, Co Durham. Step inside out of the cold, a Christmas wonderland for young and old. Stalls selling gifts and Christmas fayre, traditional Christmas food including tasters, Christmas trees and wreathes, artificial trees and lights, outdoor and indoor decorations, Santa’s Grotto. A Traditional Christmas
Saturday 17th December 2005. A traditional Christmas At Crook Hall, Durham City Come along to Crook Hall to join in a traditional Christmas celebration. Father Christmas will be waiting by his log fire in the Georgian Study to greet adults and children alike – and anyone who has been good will receive a present. Adults will be invited to enjoy a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie, while the children can let off pre-Christmas steam in the garden with Rudolph’s Christmas Treasure Hunt! The Elves will help them to write a letter to Father Christmas and send it up the chimney in the Jacobean Room. They can make a Christmas card, and after all that they will be ready for one of Mrs Christmas’ special cakes and a festive drink. This is a chance to escape from the stress of Christmas and enjoy some yuletide magic from years gone by. All activities and refreshments are included in the price (£8 per person). No need to pre-book. Just come along and be enchanted.
